Economic Development Manager

GENERAL:
 
The City of Kettering is seeking an exceptional professional with a proven track record to fill the Regular Full-Time position of Economic Development Manager. Reporting directly to and working under the general supervision of the City Manager, this individual will manage the City’s Economic Development Program,  including working with top level executives in business, industry and government to attract and retain businesses to thrive in and contribute to our community. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Must have a comprehensive understanding of the operation of local and state government as applies to economic development; sophisticated skills in finance, marketing, communications and problem solving; sound independent judgment; initiative and the ability to effectively communicate and work with City staff; officials, top level business executives; citizens, community interest groups and other government officials at the State, local, regional and federal level. An advanced degree in planning, public administration, business administration, financial management or a related field or any combination of education, training and job experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities is required with a MPA or MBA desired. Must obtain an Ohio Certified Economic Developer (OHIO CED) within 36 months or less of appointment through the Ohio Economic Development Association (OEDA).
 
COMPENSATION:
 
The Economic Development Manager position is an unclassified and exempt position with a current annual salary up to $114,046/yr. contingent upon the candidate’s related skills, knowledge, and abilities. Comprehensive benefits include medical and dental insurance, attractive retirement plan, vacation leave, sick leave, holiday pay and other fringe benefits.
