Marketing/Communications Coordinator

Job Summary
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for the development, execution, and management of the school’s marketing and communications program that supports the mission, vision, values, and goals of Scattergood. The primary objective of the Marketing and Communications Coordinator is to create and communicate a compelling narrative about the school through coordinated brand management. This includes the planning, design, production, and distribution of print and electronic materials, publicity, and public relations. The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Admissions and Development departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development and messaging of Scattergood’s brand narrative, driving school goals in Admissions, Development, Alumni Relations, and other stakeholder and community engagement 
  • Create, execute, and collaborate on marketing programs and campaigns for Scattergood Admissions and Development departments and overall brand goals
  • Manage and maintain Scattergood’s website and website content 
  • Write, produce, and manage content for a variety of media, including: website, social media, newsletters, and publications
  • Create, coordinate and distribute the weekly (during the school year) online parent
newsletter- the Scattergood Post- and the quarterly development newsletter- Scatterings
  • Participate in Scattergood event marketing, coordination, and execution
  • Work collaboratively with external vendors
  • Organize, curate, and archive photographs and other marketing assets

Other Duties
  • Attend regular community meetings as required
  • Serve as a Crew Leader
  • Model the values of Scattergood Friends School

 Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of SEO, Drupal, Wordpress, Basic HTML, Google Suite, MS Office.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere).
  • Working knowledge of marketing and social media best practices (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, including strong grammar skills
  • Photography & videography skills
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively in response to changing circumstances
  • Precise attention to detail, problem solving and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to engage with a diverse group of donors, alums, students, and Scattergoodians

Desired Qualifications:
    
  • Experience managing a brand for a school, non-profit organization or small business.
  • Experience marketing and managing small events.
