Long Term Substitute

Grades K - 4
Aprox. 8/20/2021 – 10/20/2021


QUALIFICATIONS


Required:

·      Valid Illinois Professional Educator License and ESL Endorsement
 
Desirable:

·      Strong interest in working with elementary/middle school EL students
·      Knowledge of current research and instructional practices for the teaching of EL students
·      Ability to work with all student ability levels, including students with IEPs.
·      Ability to collaborate and consult with other staff members
·      Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish (Preferred) 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

The EL Resource Teacher will:
·      Provide EL push-in and/or pull-out instruction to students in grades 5-8
·      Work with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction
·      Assist in developing appropriate curriculum to help EL students acquire the English language
·      Employ a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitude and interests of students, including whole group, small group, or individual learning
·      Establish and maintain communication with parents of students in the program
·      Engage parents and families in their student’s learning and acting as an ambassador for the school in the community
·      Assist in compiling and maintaining EL record of achievement and progress for each student
·      Building contact person for the administration of required language proficiency and academic achievement test for determining placement for students in grades 5-8, along with ongoing monitoring of student progress
·      Maintain database of EL and EL-eligible students
·      Assist in completing EL Accommodations Forms and EL Progress Reports for students
·      Contribute productively to the school as a whole
·      Participate in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned
·      Attend IEP, Section 504, or other related meetings necessary for student assessment and/or compliance with federal and/or state law
·      Attend and participate in established traditional school-sponsored activities, which may be outside the regular school hours
·      Other duties as assigned

MISCELLANEOUS
 
·     Sub pay rate of $110/day from days 1-10, $120/day for days 11-21, then $265.37/day in a continuous position for one certified teacher
