Math (w/Basic Computing) Instructor -- Junior-High/High-School; Full-Time

Seeking a full-time 7-12th grade math instructor for the 2021-2022 school year (target start date of Mon 9 Aug 2021) at Liberty Common School in Fort Collins, Colorado – a Poudre School District charter school dedicated to using the Core Knowledge curriculum in grades K-8. LCHS is Northern Colorado's clearest path to college delivering a college-preparatory, classically-oriented liberal-arts curriculum emphasizing the humanities including English, foreign language, history and economics while accentuating math, science and engineering in a safe, small-school environment. The school currently enrolls approximately 1150 students in grades K-12.  
 
LCHS provides excellence and fairness in education by teaching a contextual body of organized knowledge, the skills of learning, and the values of a democratic society. This is done through parental choice, partnership with teachers, and student acceptance of responsibility for his/her academic effort.
 
The instructor has responsibility for program planning, curriculum development, and delivery of math and basic computing classes for junior-high and high-school students, in cooperation with the school’s existing computer-science and math departments. Classes potentially include a combination of 7th-Grade Computer Essentials (typing, Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and basic computing skills), Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Applicants should be dedicated to a strong skills and knowledge-based curriculum, and dedicated to high student achievement.
 
Minimum Requirements:
·        Desire and willingness to learn about Liberty’s history and philosophy and to uphold and promote the mission and values of the school.
·        BA/BS in math, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
·        Demonstrated ability to work effectively in one or more teams.
·        Demonstrated effective classroom teaching ability.
·        Ability to sit and stand (conducive to an office environment) for extended periods of time.
·        Ability to lift and move loads of up to 30 pounds over short distances.
 
Preferred Characteristics:
·        Understanding of Liberty Common School’s history and a commitment to maintaining and promoting the school’s mission and values.
·        MS/MA in math, or related discipline, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
·        BA/BS/MS/MA in computer science, knowledge of programming and computer security fundamentals.
·        Experience or background in teaching higher-level computer science (AP computer science).
·        Experience or background in networking and/or computer security.
 
Compensation: 
·        Starting annual salary of $42,000 (possibly higher based on background, experience, and/or institutional alignment).
·        Enrollment in Colorado’s Public Employees Retirement Association (PERA) and employer contributions to your PERA retirement account.
·        Earned sick leave in accord with Colorado’s Healthy Families and Workplaces (HFWA) Act.
