Cleveland Research Company is an employee owned, independent research firm, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. Founded in 2006, CRC has expanded to 15 research teams publishing research on over 150 companies. As a full-time employee, you will work on one of our Teams, covering publicly traded companies in one of the following sectors: Consumer, Technology, Agriculture, Health Care, or Industrial.
Responsibilities include:
  • Becoming an expert on your sector and covered companies
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry sources
  • Attend industry events to gain an in depth understanding of the sector
  • Gather and analyze proprietary market research
  • Build and update financial models for each company
  • Compile and analyze macroeconomic and industry data
  • Interact and share conviction with our internal sales force
  • Assist in the production of written reports to be distributed to our institutional money manager clients
In addition to working on one of our equity research teams, you will have the opportunity within the first 12 months to:
  • Comprehensive training program including classroom style sessions and job shadow experiences
  • Become certified with FINRA after passing your SIE, Series 7, 63, 86, and 87 exams
  • Participate in weekly analytical group discussion with the President & compete in a mock portfolio competition
  • Travel to visit our institutional money manager clients
Position Requirements:
  • A graduate or an undergraduate business degree
  • Entry level with experience in a Finance, accounting or Consulting related field
  • Strong work ethic and interest in learning the equity research industry
  • Well-developed analytical skills with the ability to master complex tasks and multi-task with minimal supervision
  • Outstanding time management with excellent communication and writing skills

As an Equity Research Associate at Cleveland Research Company, you become a member of one of our equity research teams, covering 10-15 publicly traded companies within one of our sectors – Consumer, Agriculture, Healthcare, Industrial or Technology. Our research teams are comprised of 2-4 people allowing each person to have a significant impact on the team and the firm from the start of their career. 
Channel research is the DNA of the firm. This is what differentiates Cleveland Research among our competitors, and the area where you can have the largest impact on their team and the firm. Fifty percent or more of your time is spent conducting channel research, trying to uncover fundamental business inflection points, over the telephone and in-person. 
What is Channel Research? Channel research is the compilation of industry and company-specific data points, anecdotes, numerical analysis and other analysis used to define inflection points in a company’s business. Channel research is used to more effectively identify current trends in fundamental (qualitative) and financial (quantitative) metrics. The mosaic of information that channel research creates is used to provide insights to our clients.
Other key initial responsibilities in the first 12 months include:
  • Selling & Communication
  • Develop relationships with industry contacts to build your mosaic
  • Interact and share conviction with our internal sales force
  • Participate in client marketing meetings with our institutional money manager clients (NYC, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, London, via telephone)
  • Analytical Skills
  • Become an expert on your industries and covered companies
  • Draw conclusions with each project
  • Apply your conclusions to our financial models, EPS estimates, and ultimately what it means for the stock
  • Writing
  • Develop written product distributed to our institutional money manager clients and our industry sources
Developing Our Employees You will participate in our new hire training program during your first several months at Cleveland Research to understand all facets of our business including, but not limited to, classroom style training sessions, on the job shadow experiences, a mentor program, peer brainstorming sessions, and weekly analytical discussions with the President.
