Direct Care Professional

Founded in 1897, The Allendale Association is a private, not-for-profit organization dedicated to excellence and innovation in the care, treatment, education and advocacy for children and youth with serious emotional, mental and behavioral health challenges.

Position Located in Lake Villa, Waukegan, and North Chicago Varied Shifts Available, i.e., Full-Time, Part-Time or Weekends.

Allendale opened its doors nearly 125 years ago to help youth living in the city streets of Chicago or in home situations ill-equipped to meet their childhood needs. Those children, like the youth we serve today needed a place to learn..grow...heal. Today, Allendale serves over 900 children and their families, annually. Our goal is to provide safe homes, high-quality specialized education and vocational training options; and clinical services to children and their families while recovering from severe childhood trauma. We focus on helping youth who have progressed in treatment and are working toward self-sufficiency or returning to home environments. Our programs emphasize community involvement and community integration as part of the individualized treatment goals.

The Position Will;
The Mental Health Specialist II works actively within the unit/cottage to implement individual and group programs through the care, supervision, monitoring and direction of the residents encompassing activities related to residents’ health, education and welfare as well as care for the physical environment and maintain appropriate records.
The Ideal candidate Will Posess:
High School Diploma
Desired Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field OR 5 years equivalent experience.
Per DCFS regulations, must be at least 21 years of age.
First Aid/CPR certified within 90 days of employment.
Valid Driver’s License and good driving record.
