Makerspace/Innovation Lab Facilitator and Technology Teacher

Position: Technology co-Teacher/Makerspace/Innovation Lab co-facilitator 
Reports to: Educational Technology Director and Administration
Job Classification: Full Time

Gindi Maimonides Academy is a leading independent day school servicing over 650 children in preschool through grade 8. The Makerspace Facilitator is responsible for working with the technology team, classroom teachers, and administration to facilitate cross-curricular integrated learning that aligns with our school curriculum. The Makerspace Facilitator is also responsible for supporting the open unstructured creation time that occurs in our makerspace. Some clubs and after school programming responsibilities may also be expected depending on enrollment.

Responsibilities: 
  • Teach K-8 technology and computer science classes. Topic examples: computational thinking, robotics, 3D-printing, coding, general tech use and digital citizenship.
  • Utilize curriculum and create lesson plans, teaching weekly classes.
  • Expand technology curriculum to incorporate student interests in areas such as animation, video-editing, and media production.
  • Provide authentic, differentiated learning experiences that build on essential academic skills for each student.
  • Work with the Educational Technology Director to recommend and implement appropriate technology resources for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Assist Educational Technology Director in identifying specific educational hardware/software application strategies.
  • Supervise students in a variety of settings including but not limited to classroom, transitions, lunch, recess, after school and summer programs as assigned.
  • Actively participate in school functions such as community events and activities, service days, seminars, meetings and training sessions.
  • Support and assist in organizing school functions, such as STEM night, Science Fair, Middle School overnight camps, and others.
  • To a reasonable degree possible keep Makerspace clean and orderly. 
  • Assist with in house production of but not limited to: school yearbook, podcasts, website, school publications, and videos 
Qualified candidates ideally will have: 
  • Experience in educational technology or related fields.
  • Experience in an elementary/middle school setting.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • a willingness to take risks, a desire to look beyond traditional disciplines, and a dedication to making.
  • Strong attention to detail and goal-setting skills.
  • Set an example of intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, life-skills, self-motivation, and self-discipline.
  • Experience in collaborative planning and team teaching.
  • Ability to work closely with a wide range of people; including diverse students, faculty, and staff.
  • Have the ability to connect and build relationships with faculty, students, and families.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Enthusiasm for exploring new trends and tools for learning.
  • Experience using media, design, and digital fabrication tools and software.
Basic Qualifications: 
Bachelor’s Degree in related field
Experience working with student in a classroom, after school program, or camp environment 
Willingness to take direction, learn on the job and adapt
Salary: 
$45,000-$60,000 based on education and experience
