Nurse Practioner

We have a new traveling Nurse Practioner position available in the state of Iowa. This role will travel weekly to Burlington and Ottumwa alternating weeks with Ames and Osceola. Exact hours will be based on client needs and determined at hire, however will provide you with some flexibility. UCS Healthcare is a CARF-accredited, non-profit health care organization based in West Des Moines, Iowa with additional offices in Knoxville and Ankeny and 11 medication units across the state offering medication assisted treatment (MAT) for opiate/alcohol addiction. We offer a competitive hourly wage and travel reimbursement.
Nurse Practioner's are responsible for providing all aspects of patient care, including diagnosis, treatments and consultations, maintaining accurate and current patient records. Will
work as a team with our nurses and physicians and will assist in delivering premium care to each and every patient in more than one program or location including medication assisted treatment. Operates in alignment with UCS Healthcare core values. Is a team player, provides patient centered care and strives to provide the highest level of care.
General Duties includes but are not limited to:
Follow all Federal, State of Iowa, and agency policies and laws, including those pertaining to patient confidentiality, including HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2 and CARF requirements.
Developing treatment plans for acute and chronic diseases
Perform initial patient screenings and patient history and physical examinations
Diagnose and treat acute infections, injuries and illnesses.
Educating and guiding patients on disease prevention and healthy lifestyle habits
Understanding the changes in health promotion throughout the aging process
Performing diagnostic tests and screening evaluations
Managing overall patient care regarding lifestyle and development issues
Emphasizing preventative care and disease management
Prescribing medications and evaluate their effectiveness
Work with a diverse population of patients compassionately
Specific Duties are not limited to the following but deemed by Program:
Perform MAT physicals and order appropriate medications
Perform specialized treatments and exams as appropriate
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members
Provide consultation to clinic staff for improvement in their work performance, which enhances
overall quality service delivery
Strong oral, written and computer skills

Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's Degree in nursing with a valid nurse practitioner Iowa
  • license. Ability to work within a team and take direction. Must be familiar with the EHR medical charting
  • system and have strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Preferred Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
  • Independently provide general and preventative care, conduct check-ups, treat illnesses, order lab tests
  • and prescribe medication for children and adults, treat the needs of the substance use disorder and
  • transgender population with the utmost respect.
  • Licenses: Iowa ARNP, DEA and CSA licenses.
  • Work Schedule: Part time flexible M-F.
  • Initial training will be in West Des Moines, Iowa.
  • Travel may be required on specific position.
