Post-Doctoral Research Fellow - Stamatatos Lab

The Vaccine and Infectious Disease Division (VIDD) addresses the growing need for treatment and prevention strategies for infectious diseases worldwide. VIDD’s mission is to accelerate knowledge of effective immunity and create innovative approaches that can prevent new infections and treat or cure infection-related diseases. VIDD is one of the largest of five scientific divisions at Fred Hutch with an annual grant portfolio of over $500 million and nearly 650 staff, faculty, and trainees. VIDD is comprised of three research programs—Biostatistics, Bioinformatics & Epidemiology (BBE), Immunology & Vaccine Development (IVD), and Infectious Disease Sciences (IDS).
                                                                                
The Stamatatos Lab, employs Immunological, Virological, Deep sequencing, Structural and Computations approaches to define the characteristics of the B cell and antibody responses generated against human viruses and those elicited by vaccines.



Responsibilities

We have available positions for Postdoctoral fellows interested in:
  • Interrogating the neutralizing antibody responses generated during SARS-CoV-2 infection and during vaccination with mRNA and non-mRNA vaccines.
  • Monitoring and controlling the competition between B cells that produce HIV-1 neutralizing antibodies and those that do not.


Qualifications

  • A PhD in Immunology or Microbiology are preferred
  • Strong background on T and/or B cell immunity, is important
  • Ability to work independently within a very collaborative environment is critical, as are strong written, communication and organizational skills
  • Salary will be commensurate with appropriate experience
