SUMMARY:
The Database Administrator will perform all administrative functions in support of database design, development, and maintenance for MS SQL Server DBA.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  •  Provides database expertise to the software development team in the design, development and maintenance of the APHC database environment.
  • Provides expertise in data storage systems.
  • Implements software solutions for performance enhancement, operator interface, and increased user capability.
  • Performs complex analysis and design of databases.
  • Ensures proper configuration of the database for performance, provides guidance on optimization, develops logic and physical designs, develops and maintains the data dictionary, and enforces standards for database use and security.
  • Evaluates the data processing techniques, database management, and management information system concepts and applications as they relate to customer information requirements and provides feedback for continuous improvement activities.
  • Ensures all required database administration policies, procedures, cybersecurity standards, and guidelines are met.
  • Manages multiple database environments to meet customer and company standards while maintaining operational data accuracy.
  • Interprets feedback and change suggestions from customer and development/design team and incorporates updates to existing database environments.
  • Works tickets as assigned from Remedy, ServiceNow, and/or current ticketing system used by the APHC. Ticket work would include, but not be limited to, some of the following items: account creation/removal, drive access, Email distribution list creation/maintenance, website access, troubleshooting existing custom applications, and more.
  • Besides deploying the database side of applications, this role also provides deployment setup and support for custom .NET applications using IIS and other Web components/services/features.
  • Develops, deploys, and maintains SQL Reports and the Reporting server.
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance Required (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • 3 years of related database administration and/or management experience (5 years preferred).
  • 4 to 5 years of SQL Server administration and maintenance.
  • Experience with SQL Reports
  • Experience with ticketing systems such as Remedy or ServiceNow preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT Engineering or related field or equivalent is preferred.
  • MCDBA or MCSA: SQL Server certification or MCSA: SQL Database Administration or MCSE: Data Management and Analytics.
  • Baseline certification as stipulated in DoD 8570.01 and DoD 8570.01-M such as Security+ CE.

SPECIAL SKILLS:
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Administration and Management and Content Delivery Network and SharePoint services across multiple application environments.
  • Familiar with Microsoft-based development practices.
