Grant Writer Intern

About the Role:
We are looking for an articulate, resourceful, and persuasive grant-writing intern to join our team! This person is someone who has a heart to serve others with your talent for clear and effective communication and resourcefulness.

As the Grant Writer Intern at C Lenoir Publishing, you'll work closely with the Publishing Assistant to research grants as well as apply and secure funding for various CLP initiatives and programs.

Grant Writer Interns will gain direct experience with grant research, professional/business writing focused on funding for small businesses, and grant writing.


Responsibilities:
  • This role reports directly to the Publishing Assistant
  • Attend weekly team meetings to discuss current grant research/application updates
  • Attend weekly check-in meetings with PA to review tasks, updates, and receive guidance
  • Assist PA with applicable grant research
  • Taking on grant writing for C Lenoir Publishing with direction from PA
This includes:
  • Writing, revising, and editing grant proposals
  • Collecting necessary information for applications
  • Managing grant files and maintaining accurate records
  • Identifying potential sources of funding
  • Collaborate with PA and Publisher to address funding needs

Our goal candidate:
  • A self-starter who can work independently and with a team
  • A positive, can-do attitude that is persistent
  • Willing and confident to ask for help when needed
  • Junior or senior in college or recent graduate
  • Available to work remotely 1-2 days a week, minimum 10 hours
  • 1+ years of grant or funding research (relevant internships or school activities count!)
  • Understanding of the different types of grants and relevance
  • Expert business writing and persuasive communications skills
  • Keen attention to detail (i.e. proofreading)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be earnest and diligent about their professional and personal growth

Great to have but not required:
  • 1+ years of business or grant application experience plus
  • Experience writing grant proposals for small businesses a plus
  • Finance, journalism, or English major a plus
  • Interest in a career in media communications or publishing a plus

Duration of Internship:
Seasonal (3 months)
  • Summer June - August (applications open in April)
  • Fall September - November (applications open in July)
  • Winter: December - February (applications open in October)
  • Spring March - May (applications open in January)

Compensation:
College credit (based on your campus's requirements)
