Purchasing Agent
Amsted Rail has an immediate opening for a Purchasing Agent at its operation in Granite City, Illinois.

This position manages the activities pertaining to, but not restricted to assigned procurement duties to support production and customer requirements.
- Monitors, and maintains procurement activities and duties in compliance with Amsted policies
- Negotiate directly with vendors to get the best possible pricing and payment options
- Manage inventories to optimize working capital goals/objectives, and develop solutions to improve product availability to support customer requirements
- Develop initiatives to reduce costs for products and services
- Collaborate with vendors to pitch new products to operations team
- Resolve disputes with suppliers & contractors
- Act as Team Leader in assigned projects as required
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of procurement experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Demonstrative skills in procurement activities, negotiation skills, and a general understanding of procurement.
- High energy individual, self-starter, results focused, and shares ideas.
- Excellent written, oral, communication, leadership and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft office, especially Excel
- SAP or similar ERP experience
- Working knowledge of contractual language
