Early Childhood Special Education

Ottawa USD 290 is accepting applications for a Early childhood Special education Teacher for the 2021-2022 school year.  Applicants must be appropriately endorsed or be eligible to obtain the appropriate endorsement for this position.
 
Position Summary:
Under the supervision for the Director of Special Education or designee, the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher enhances the development of infants and toddlers with disabilities, to minimize their potential for developmental delays and to recognize the significant brain development that occurs during the child`s first three years. Th ECSE also enhances capacity of families to meet the special needs of their infants and toddlers with disabilities. The ECSE Teacher supports the development of the whole child by designing, teaching, and facilitating learning activities which will promote the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative growth of each child at their appropriate level of learning. These activities will embody the diverse learning styles of students fostering their development as self-assured, self-motivated, and self-directed learners. The teacher will also develop strategies to involve parents (guardians) as partners in the positive development of their children as learners.
