Fall Marketing Intern

Green Circle Growers Internship Program gives students pursuing a Business/Marketing, Agriculture/Horticulture, Finance, or IT degree the opportunity to work for one of the largest greenhouse operations in the Midwest. Within the Marketing department, there are diverse intern opportunities available within the various pillars of the department. Below you may find details pertaining to each pillar. Interns who exhibit experience in multiple areas may receive projects assigned that combine facets of the different marketing pillars.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS
GENERIC
  • Marketing Interns will be assigned to specific projects that they are tasked to complete within the span of their internship which will be in 1 of 4 areas within the marketing department: product management, communications, creative or data insights.
  • Final project presentation to the greater Marketing team and members of company Leadership team.
  • Complete other minor assigned tasks on time

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT / BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT (Kate Lantz/Devin Eicher)
  • Competitive product research
  • Supporting the setup of new products
  • Supporting the progression of new product development projects, including business case justification, product benchmarking and commercialization.
CREATIVE / PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEOGRAPHY / GRAPHIC DESIGN (Laura Haselden)
  • Support the cataloging and editing of digital assets
  • Support the creation of new digital assets, including videography
COMMUNICATIONS / CONTENT / SOCIAL MEDIA (Amanda Lieber)
  • Competitive research
  • Supporting online consumer engagement
  • Supporting the management of social media influencer programs
  • Deriving new copy content to support upcoming product launches

QUALIFICATIONS

FORMAL EDUCATION (GENERALLY, IF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE IS ACCEPTABLE, THE CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THREE YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY ONE YEAR OF COLLEGE EDUCATION REQUIRED) Preferred:
  • Junior or Senior year of college, sophomores and even high school students will be considered.
  • An interest in Marketing, Design and/or Horticulture.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE (Required)

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT/BUSINESS:
  • Previous project management experience is a must, including a portfolio, demonstrating proven track record to be able to work autonomously and meet deadlines.
CREATIVE / PHOTOGRAPHY / VIDEOGRAPHY / GRAPHIC DESIGN
  • (PHOTOGRAPHY) Previous product photography experience is a must, including a strong photography portfolio, demonstrating a broad knowledge of lighting, styling, and digital photography techniques
  • (VIDEOGRAPHY) Previous videography experience is a must, including a strong portfolio, demonstrating a broad knowledge of different techniques.
  • (GRAPHIC DESIGN) Previous graphic design experience is a must, including a strong portfolio, demonstrating a broad knowledge of styling.
COMMUNICATIONS / CONTENT / SOCIAL MEDIA
  • Previous copywriting experience is a must, including a strong portfolio, demonstrating a broad knowledge of producing content for multiple platforms.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.
  • Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds on occasion.
  • Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
  • Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.
  • Must be able to withstand temperature and humidity levels present in Greenhouses year-round.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to work long hours during photoshoot days.
  • May work indoors and outdoors as needed.
  • May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.
  • May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.
  • May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
  • Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic odors and be able to wear any PPE as required.
  • Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
  • Employee must possess a valid driver’s license and be self-sufficient with their own transportation.
  • Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.​​​​​​​
TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS (Required)
  • High technical proficiency with editing software like Photoshop, Lightroom and Mac computers is essential
  • The ability to present in front of large groups
  • Ability to problem solve in a creative, fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • A superb eye for trending, style, and visual composition.
