Mental Health Therapist - Refugee and Immigrant Services

At LSI, we are dedicated to wrapping compassionate care around the children and families we are privileged to serve. Our therapists are central to our mission and serve as expert advisors to LSI's early childhood, behavioral health, and family safety teams.

We are seeking a full-time Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) to provide therapy and counseling to couples, families, adults, and children from refugee and immigrant backgrounds. Therapy and counseling is provided primarily in Polk County, with occasional travel. Position schedule will require availability to provide services one evening per week.

In this role, you will:
  • Provide therapy and counseling services to individuals and families who have migrated or resettled in the United States
  • Blend behavioral health treatments with navigation of community resources, crisis intervention, and client advocacy
  • Build strong partnerships and relationships with other community providers to enhance service provision, community outreach and collaboration around trainings
  • Develop individual treatment plans with sensitivity for client's cultural experiences, needs, values and beliefs
  • Utilize trauma informed practices and be able to implement practices in service delivery
  • Collaborate with interpreters and multi-lingual community navigators in order to provide linguistic support for clients
  • Manage case plan oversight, paperwork and client data. Therapist must be able to re-evaluate as necessary to build the best possible outcomes for our clients
  • Gain valuable experience from collaboration with LSI's other behavioral health programs

Qualifications
  • A Master's in Social Work or an approved related field (LMFT, LMHC)
  • Must be licensed in the state of Iowa (temporary and provisionally licensed applicants are encouraged to apply!)
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver services in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner
  • A valid driver's license, good driving record, and auto insurance
  • Must be able to pass an extensive background check, including checks of the Dependent Adult and Child Abuse registries, Sex Offender registry, and a criminal history check
  • Bilingual/multi-lingual applicants preferred
