Basketball Communications Coordinator

As the Basketball Communications Coordinator your work is critical in supporting the team that handles internal and external connections with Thunder players, coaches and staff. 
 
Responsibilities:
·      Responsible for drafting press releases, game notes and other media materials for the Thunder and Blue
·      Manage all facets of Thunder and Blue game-day operations from a communications standpoint including but not limited to; media-room/press area set up and teardown, credentials, media seating and coordinating transcription of post-game media availabilities
·      Attend all Thunder practices and games and help coordinate Thunder player and head coach media availability
·      Assist in the writing and production of Thunder and Blue media guides (pre-season, post-season, summer league) 
·      Manage news clips and social media monitoring process, compiling and distributing to basketball operations staff
·      Produce media reports daily on key topics, trends and newsworthy information in both traditional and social media as it pertains to the Thunder
·      Run Zoom media availability process including moderating, recording and distributing to media 
·      Maintain media credentialing process for both teams
·      Help plan and execute various Thunder media events (press conferences, community relations appearances, Thunder Legacy Network events, etc)
·      Promote off court initiatives for the Blue through pitching, producing web stories and other communications channels
·      Write stories for the Oklahoma City Blue website
·      Serve as the department s archivist, organizing all pertinent copy, imagery, administrative and departmental projects for easier knowledge transfer
 
Required Experience/Knowledge:
·      Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent work or military experience 
·      Minimum two years of public relations experience 
·      Knowledge of AP style writing and editing 
·      Strong NBA and basketball acumen and understanding 
·      Ability to manage projects individually and work within the context of a larger department 
·      Understanding and awareness of communications trends 
·      Excellent communication and strong writing skills 
·      Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and all pertinent social media mediums 
·      Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop a plus 
·      Self-starter who is excited to add value to their team and organization   
 
Additional details:
This is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting to the Senior Basketball Communications Lead. Work schedule may include long hours on short notice as well as work on evenings, weekends and holidays. Primary work location will be in Oklahoma City. Driver's license and reliable transportation are required as trips to other locations around the metro will be common.
