The person performing this work is responsible for conducting scheduled public hearings on issues relating to all case types including park exclusion appeals and appeals contesting the validity of City towing actions among many others. Duties include hearing testimony; receiving, evaluating, and examining evidence; issuing findings of fact and conclusions of law; rendering decisions and subsequent written orders meeting all internal and external deadlines. The position includes a great deal of public contact requiring a high degree of tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive situations and concerned individuals, using independent judgment and initiative. Work is performed independently with administrative supervision under the general direction of the City’s Chief Hearings Officer. Other duties may be assigned related to the following areas: improving policies and procedures, equity work, and outreach.
