Agronomy Internship Experience

This internship will expose the student to all aspects of Agronomy; crop production, Integrated Pest Management, the use of in season satellite imagery, soil fertility, irrigation, crop rotation, plant physiology, weed, insect & disease identification with emphasis on how to control these pests. Experiences will include a variety of assigned tasks, with the goal to benefit from as many different experiences as possible through hands on crop scouting, operational responsibilities, and interactions with the producers and our own agronomists.

Supervision:
  • Reports to the location manager.  Intern coordinator provides additional support

Scope of Responsibilities & Job Requirements:
·       Soil, Tissue and Nematode testing
·       Fertilizer blending & delivery
·       General operational duties to assist in the delivery & application of seed, fertilizer & crop protection products
·       Scout customers fields and accurately report back information to the agronomy team
·       Assist and aid in agronomy sales and support activities
·       Work in a team atmosphere with the rest of the agronomy staff
·       Special projects for the agronomy sales team & management as needed
·       Accurately place agronomy marketing signage along local highways
·       Perform all other duties as assigned
Desired Skills / Competencies:
·       Pursuing an associates or bachelor’s degree in Agronomy or related field
·       Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and GIS software
·       Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
·       Highly motivated to learn new skills, computer programs & information
·       Very strong written and oral communication skills required
·       Organized & attention to detail

Agronomy Interns must be a minimum of 18 years of age and poses a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
