Training and Professional Development Intern

Summary:
The Human Resources and Organizational Development division serves the staff who serve the visitors of the Museum. The Director of Training and Professional Development is responsible for the training and development of all museum staff, volunteers and interns. The professional development needs of staff are met through a combination of in-house trainings (curriculum written and/or delivered by the Training Director or another Museum staff member), out-sourced vendor training and departmental on the job training. All new staff attend a core base of training classes and then a customized training path is created to fit each position. 
All internships in this department are customized to the current needs of the organization and the department in conjunction with the skills and abilities of the individual.

Intern projects include:
  • Researching relevant content for inclusion in training curriculum(s).
  • Exploring ways to utilize technology to improve trainings. 
  • Conducting evaluations of training quality and effectiveness.
  • Conducting an assessment of future needs.
  • Cataloguing on-the-job trainings (OJT) offered by each department.
  • Converting trainings from old platforms to new ones. 
  • Creating a list of engaging, interactive activities along with a list of any supplies needed. 
  • Co-facilitating trainings in partnership with the Training Director. 
  • Updating spreadsheets/training tracking software to ensure all training records are up-to-date. 
Qualifications:
  • Sophomore, junior or senior at the college level.
  • Self-motivated and have a demonstrated ability to work independently. 
  • Good interpersonal skills and a willingness to meet with and gather information from staff outside of the Human Resources department. 
  • Confidence to give presentations or assist with trainings.

Interns will receive a $500 stipend upon completion of the internship experience.
