Psychiatric Clinician / School Based Clinician

This position is responsible for provision of psycho-educational and clinical counseling services to clients and their families in a school-based setting. Through these services, the Clinician will assist clients (and their families when appropriate) in developing self-knowledge, interpersonal skills, and safety planning while keeping them in the least restrictive environment. Productivity expectations for this position will be discussed based on identified needs of the school district and individualized caseload requirements. The Clinician also is available for clinical support, training, and (if required) supervision for other school-based program staff. This is a school year position with some opportunity to provide clinical coverage for other Acadia Hospital/Acadia Healthcare programs (such as Child and Adolescent Partial and the Summer Program) during school vacation weeks and summer break. This position may be asked to deliver services during planned school breaks to appropriate youth and families who require this continuity. This person reports to and performs duties and/or responsibilities as assigned by the Clinical Supervisor. Master's Degree in Social Work (LMSW-CC, LCSW), Counseling Education (LCPC, LCPC-C), Psychology, or related field, and ability for clinical licensure required. Must have experience with children and adolescents, with expertise in individual, group and family therapy.

Responsibilities:
  • Completes comprehensive, diagnostic evaluations by collecting data which enables the identification of potential therapeutic targets for active treatment.
  • Develops initial master treatment plan and updates in collaboration with the patient and within established timeframes that identify effective interventions to achieve outcomes, and accommodate the patient’s developmental level, motivation, health/spiritual beliefs, functional capabilities and strengths.
  • Implements individual, group and family therapy interventions that are evidence-based and are consistent with service plan and developmental level and needs of patient to elicit therapeutic change.
  • Modifies interventions based on continual assessment of the patient’s response to treatment.
  • Articulates anticipated treatment outcomes that are patient oriented, evidence based, therapeutically sound, realistic, attainable and measurable.
  • Completes documentation that reflects evidence-based practices, active patient involvement in care, attention to objective outcomes and identification of any barriers to treatment progress.
  • Maintains a safe environment complying with NLH policies and procedures, reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed.
  • Completes documentation within required timeframes.
  • Provides psycho-educational and clinical counseling services, including crisis counseling as needed, to clients and their families in a school-based setting.

Credentials:
Essential:
Must be minimally licensed as a Conditional Master Social Worker (LMSW-cc), Clinical Counselor (LCPC-c), Licensed Marital and Family Therapist (LMFT) or eligible to obtain a conditional license.
Progresses to full licensure within 1 year of eligibility for full licensure.
