Substance Abuse Prevention Coordinator

The prevention team at Prelude Behavioral Services works in the community to decrease high risk and addictive behaviors by implementing effective, evidence-based prevention strategies. Our team members network with other social services agencies, community coalitions, local schools, parents and businesses to promote healthy life choices for those in Iowa City and surrounding areas.

Prelude is seeking a full-time Prevention Coordinator to join our team. This team member will have the opportunity to have a direct impact on our community by overseeing all requirements related to successful implementation to assigned grant(s). In addition to providing education and programming to community partners, the person in this role will track required data, evaluate programs, and coordinate dissemination of information related to assigned grant(s). They will also prepare and submit required reports and provide other necessary information to grant authorities.

Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in in community or public health, education, coalition coordination, grant management or related area is preferred. Two years of related experience desired. Familiarity with issues related to substance abuse and/or problem gambling prevention, and community programming, capacity building, and coalition coordination desired. Excellent written and oral communications skills including public speaking, presentations, teaching/training, and report writing required. Current certification as a Certified Prevention Specialist through the Iowa Board of Certification is desired.
  
This position requires a valid driver's license and candidates will be required to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen at a later point in the recruiting process.
