Editorial Intern
Young Hot & Modern is seeking enthusiastic journalism interns to support the editorial team by researching, pitching, and writing stories. Editorial interns will be expected to contribute online articles, from research to completion, in sections ranging from fashion and lifestyle to entertainment and culture. The ideal candidates are strategic thinkers with experience in journalism or communications. Interns will work alongside seasoned professionals, receive weekly feedback, and bylines are offered. The program is remote and requires a commitment of 8 to 14 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Contribute stories that cover trending topics and SEO priorities
- Research potential articles and article series
- Submit detailed pitches weekly
- Attend weekly one-on-one meetings with editors
- Work on special projects, as needed
- Photo research and sourcing
- Assist editors with other tasks, as needed
Qualifications
- Applicants must be enrolled in college and working toward a degree in Journalism, English, or related field and must be able to receive college credits for the internship
- Previous experience at a professional media organization is preferred
- Familiarity with WordPress and other content management systems is a plus
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Keen attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and transition them from idea to execution
- Knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
