Jail Eligibility List

Chippewa County is currently accepting applications for Jailer positions within the Sheriff’s Department. This Eligibility List is being established to fill current and future vacancies. This position is responsible for supervising inmates of the Chippewa County Jail while assuring a safe, secure, and sanitary environment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines under the general direction of the Jail Sergeants and Jail Lieutenant. Qualified candidates will have the ability to manage, direct and command people in a respectful and effective manner as well as a demonstrated history of being able to think and act quickly, accurately and calmly under time constraints and in difficult or emergency situations.
 
Minimum Qualifications: A minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited college as defined by the U.S. Department of Education is required OR must have a minimum of two (2) years of previous corrections / jail experience. If not currently certified, the 200-hour basic Jail Officers Certification must be obtained within one year of hire (tuition and wages while attending the school are paid by Chippewa County). Starting Wage: $21.02 - $23.13 per hour depending on qualifications plus an excellent fringe benefit package. Maximum Wage: $28.91
