Accounting Manager - Environmental Consulting - CA

ACOUNTING MANAGER
We are assisting our client, Rincon Consultants, Inc., a leader in providing quality environmental consulting services throughout California, find their next Financial expert. The Accounting Manager will join their team to be based in either their Ventura (preferred) or Santa Barbara office. The successful candidate will be a self-directed, proactive problem-solver with a track record of successfully delivering on multiple priorities. It is preferable that this candidate has industry experience and working in a matrixed leadership organization.

What Do You Get To Do In This Position:
  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department
  • Oversee daily accounting transactions, including general ledger, and reconciliations
  • Review and approve journal entries and month-end reconciliations
  • Perform and complete month-end closing procedures
  • Assist with creation of monthly review analyses
  • Maintain audit schedules and assist with audit requests
  • Provide direct supervision, support, and guidance to all accounting staff, including accounts payable and accounts receivable 
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles
  • Prepare recurring financial reports for senior leadership
  • Act as an advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems
  • Coordinate and complete annual audits
  • Responsible for all daily project accounting activities (i.e. pay application preparation and submittal, subcontractor administration, job cost adjustments, etc.)
  • Ensure the accurate and timely processing of project related accounts payable and accounts receivable activity
  • Completion of special projects as assigned to facilitate growth of a fast-paced company
  • Perform other duties as needed

This Job Might Be For You If You Have The Following:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (preferably in Accounting or Finance) from an accredited college or university; MBA preferred; and/or 5-7 years related experience
  • Deltek Ajera or comparable ERP experience
  • Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, financial reporting, and consolidation experience
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail, documentation and problem solving
  • Proven working experience as Accounting Manager, Accounting Supervisor or Finance Manager
  • Ability to identify and solve problems; to formulate ideas to increase efficiency and effectiveness of operations
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Office, accounting software, and databases
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to process large amounts of numerical data
  • Excellent supervisory skills
  • Adept at adapting to changing circumstances while managing multiple initiatives.
