Data Engineer Intern - May 2022

The Data Engineer Intern assists with development and validation of data integration solutions. This position will need the ability to understand and align requirements to resulting integration product delivery.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
2. Follow best practices and security standards for all data including, but not limited to, personally identifiable data.
3. Analyze data ingestion, transformation, and loading (ETL) techniques for accuracy.
4. Understand basic business requirements and engage with integration developers to design and verify corresponding solutions.
5. Ensure all data-related activities adhere to business requirements and data integrity best practices.
6. Participate in project planning sessions and review requirements and functional specifications.
 
Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma required.
- Current student pursing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Data Science, Informatics or related field.
- Previous internship is a plus.
 
Other Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in an Agile project methodology.
- Knowledge of relational databases, SQL queries, data modeling, and data warehouses.
- Ability to validate data received from various web service and other integration technologies (REST, XML/JSON, SOAP, ETL).
- Ability to test and diagnose developed integrations for defects.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to be highly adaptable, a fast learner, and resourceful.
- Demonstration of good verbal and written communication skills to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
- Demonstration of excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with diverse personalities.
- Demonstration of self-initiative with the ability to execute tasks with minimal supervision.

Work Location
ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
