Developer Intern - May 2022

The Developer Intern provides and utilizes technical skills across the life cycle of programming requests (analysis, design, programming, documentation, testing and implementation). This role works directly with several IT developers to meet their specific programming requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
2. Develop and implement program code based on design specifications using accepted programming techniques and standards. Preserve the integrity of all files and maximize the efficiency and resources of all computer systems through effective program development techniques (testing and debugging) and through effective programming design features (editing, security and auditing controls).
3. Help analyze programming requirements based on end-user needs; develop and modify programs per departmental and user request; maintain and enhance existing application programs as requested.
4. Help develop and maintain all necessary application and program documentation alongside a Vermeer developer
5. Assist Vermeer developers in creating unit tests as needed.

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma required.
- Current student pursing a Bachelor's degree in Applied Sciences or Computer Programming.
- Previous internship is a plus.
Computer Skills
- Ability to learn to utilize database software for viewing, exporting, importing and modifying table data using industry standard tools.
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, SQL, DDL Oracle / Postgres preferred.
- Ability to program, or learn to program, in multiple languages including PL/SQL, C#, Angular or low-code in Mendix.
- Ability to use Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

Other Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge in the area(s) of programming languages and databases.
- Ability to type and program code to support the business decisions and computing needs.
- Demonstration of organization skills.
- Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with co-workers; ability to provide clear internal customer service.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive interpersonal relationships, which encourage openness with customers and peers and with co-workers, staff, clients and the community to meet or exceed expectations.
- Demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstration of attention to detail and a high sense of accuracy; ability to type and enter data accurately.

Work Location
ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
