Finance Intern - May 2022

The Finance Intern will assist in accounting projects and month end related tasks through partnership with the accounting team and broader finance department. This position requires knowledge of accounting theory along with analytic and financial skills that enable reporting of timely and accurate financial results along with direct engagement with internal customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Exhibit the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused and stewardship while modeling the associated behaviors.
2. Assist with month end accounting related tasks including journal entries and account reconciliations.
3. Assist with special projects that might include report creation or data validation in various financial systems, documentation of the chart of accounts, and exposure to other areas of finance within the shared services groups.
4. Perform GAAP accounting research on interpretation and applicability to Vermeer including revenue recognition and lease accounting rules.
5. Help create and distribute different monthly financial reports with a high level of accuracy and meet established deadlines.
6. Partner with end users to identify opportunities for business process improvements and implement desired changes.

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma required.
- Current student pursing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business.
- Previous internship is a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of financial and cost accounting to prepare journal entries and reconciliations and do accounting research.
- Knowledge of business and analytic systems such as ERP systems, financial consolidation systems, and Power of BI analytics tools.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the customers and co-workers.
- Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships which encourage openness with customers and peers.
- Demonstration of good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to see the big picture through execution of detailed steps and processes.
- Ability to collaborate with all departments through active engagement.

Work Location
ONSITE: A team member’s day-to-day work is best done on a Vermeer campus. If work content can be occasionally completed at an offsite location, discuss potential arrangements with your manager.
