IT Security Analyst Intern - May 2022

The IT Security Analyst Intern assists with the planning, implementation, and execution of security measures to protect computer systems, networks and data. This role helps prevent data loss and service interruptions by researching new technologies to effectively protect the network.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Demonstrate the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors.
2. Help investigate security alerts produced by various security solutions, including verification, containment and root cause analysis, remediation, and reporting.
3. Assist with monitoring firewalls, data encryption and other security measures.  Participate in risk assessments of business and IT initiatives to ensure IT security policies, standards, guidelines and best practices are considered and implemented.
4. Assist with testing and implementing network disaster recovery plans.

Education and/or Experience
- High School diploma required.
- Current student pursing a Bachelor's or Associate's degree in IT.
- Previous internship is a plus.

Other Skills and Abilities
- Experience with basic security principles such as confidentiality, authentication, access control and privacy; security vulnerabilities; physical security issues; protocol design flaws; malicious code; implementation flaws; configuration weaknesses and user errors or indifference.
- Solid planning and organizational skills with focus on time-management and prioritization.
- Experience with multiple computer systems and programs.
- Ability to provide informative and professional assistance when working with the public/customers and co-workers.
- Ability to produce accurate, professional and error-free documents in a timely manner.
- Demonstration of good verbal and written communication skills.

Work Location
REMOTE: A team member’s day-to-day work may be best completed from a location other than a Vermeer campus. There will be instances where the work requires time spent on a Vermeer campus. Discuss specific arrangements with your manager. Remote team members are eligible for business-related reimbursements per the work location policy.
