Cybersecurity Intern

Position Summary
This position is for a Cybersecurity Intern (Offensive Security). As a part of the offensive security team, you will learn security assessment methodologies, assist engineers in performing security assessments through penetration testing, help create new tools and documentation to improve the red team’s processes. You will get real-world exposure to penetration testing and writing detailed after-action reports, under the supervision of an engineer.

Essential Job Functions (include but are not limited to the following)
  • Assist social engineering engagements, external, internal, and webapp engagements.
  • Perform social engineering engagements under the supervision of a consultant.
  • Perform vulnerability assessments on a quarterly basis for subscription clients.
  • Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols.
  • Developing tools that aid penetration testing workflow.
  • Write detailed after-action reports for delivery to clients.
  • Uphold the values of ProCircular and abide by the Company handbook.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Working towards a degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Technical minded and driven.
  • Capable of working effectively independently and in a team environment
  • Must be self-motivated, goal and detail-oriented
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Communicate positively with clients and escalate any issues and/or messages accordingly
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel efficiently

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • Experience with common scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Exposure to penetration testing methodology.
  • Foundational knowledge of networking technology.
  • Proficiency with Windows/Linux concepts.
  • Involvement in the security community.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Working towards a degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.
  • Must have a natural drive for learning.
 
Language Requirements:
The primary language of ProCircular is English. Excellent communication skills are required, defined as the ability to:

  • Relay information and/or instruction in a descriptive and understandable fashion in both written and verbal format.
 
Reasoning Ability Requirements:
High-functioning, reasoning abilities are necessary to meet deadlines, prioritize company and customer needs, and work in a high functioning collaborative team environment.

Physical Requirements:
Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs. may be necessary from time to time. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, view a computer monitor, and type frequently/constantly (up to 8 hours a day).

Travel Requirements:
Valid driver’s license is required for frequent travel.

Schedule Expectations
Our normal hours of operation are from Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Part-Time: Part-Time employees are defined legally as working on average less than 20 hours per week.

Supervision Requirements
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
