Communications Intern -> Political Science + Communications + Public Policy
Welcome to CleanUps and National CleanUp Day
Internship position (remote) is available for Communications, Political Science, Government Relations and Policy students. Our organization is the leader in cleanup concepts. This internship involves contacting and developing a relationship with local or State governmental entities.
You will will help guide statements coming from Mayor's and Governor's related to our cleanup related activities. In addition, you will be asked to write a short piece about each Mayor or Governor successfully contacted and that will be published in CleanUp News.
Example 1 - San Francisco

Hours per week are 5-10 and we are flexible depending upon your program requirements.

To apply for an unpaid internship, please send your background in communications, political science or governmental policy and tell us why you are interested in helping keep the outdoors clean.
Interns will be provided close support by a Senior Management and Founders of the organization. We have high expectations and will provide regular feedback to ensure your success.
National CleanUp Day is the Third Saturday in September.

Plogging - plogging.org social movement including jogging and picking up litter. 2 million daily participants.
Trashtag - trashtag.org - social movement that may include before and after pics of area cleaned up. 5 million monthly participants.
CleanUp News - cleanupnews.org - Editorially independent. Stories may be written or mention our concepts but our goal is support the concepts, individuals, and organizations that perform cleanups or that will reduce the need for cleanups. This is an unpaid internship. Our organization is 100% virtual and we have worked with interns from all over the United States. This position complies with the Fair Labor Standard Act. Start and end dates will match your academic calendar.

National CleanUp Day / Clean Trails is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization and community of people dedicated to keeping the outdoors clean. Study after study shows the highest indicator that someone will pick up litter is if they witness someone else picking up litter. That’s because peer group norms are more powerful than incentives, and when worked in concert with each other, they can provide impressive behavioral change impacts.
Core to our beliefs is the notion that people want to do the right things; all they need is a little encouragement or incentive. We believe that people are naturally responsible; if we encourage them to care for their favorite places, to pick up after themselves and others, then our communities will become self-sufficient, clean, and more enjoyable.
