Bioscience Research Associate II

The SRI Biosciences Division is looking for an enthusiastic and driven research associate to help push forward applied research via a proprietary chemistry automation system. The chemist will have the opportunity to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) and cutting-edge technology to contribute to a range of exciting and diverse projects including drug discovery projects, process development and scale up, chemistry automation, and high-throughput synthesis. The chemist will have the unique experience of collaborating with experts from numerous different disciplines including biologists, physicists, chemical and mechanical engineers, computer scientists, and software developers.
 
The Research Associate’s position will be a part of the novel SRI SynFini program (sri.com/case-studies/synfini), with primary responsibilities entailing the synthesis, purification, and characterization of compounds for both internal programs and external partners. The RA will be asked to keep diligent laboratory records, participate in project and chemistry meetings, and assist in maintenance and operation of laboratory equipment. The RA will be expected to work well as part of a team of multidisciplinary scientists and engineers, while also maintaining flexibility and the ability to work independently if needed. Qualifications :

For appointment as a Research Associate II, a B.S. in chemistry with at least 2 years of relevant experience or M.S. in chemistry is required.

For appointment as a Research Associate III, a B.S. in chemistry with at least 4 years of relevant experience or M.S. in chemistry with at least 2 years of relevant experience is required.

Additional requirements:
  • Familiarity with modern synthetic methods, chromatographic purification techniques, and spectroscopic methods for compound identification is required.
  • The ability to take initiative, effectively communicate, and manage time is required.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and automation is highly desirable.
