Grain & Agronomy Operations

Position Summary:
Support United Cooperative’s grain division by completing the daily tasks as assigned by the Location Manager. Provide excellent customer service to customers and perform duties with a safety-first mindset. Safely load and unload trucks for incoming and outgoing commodities. This position will also be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Fertilizer plants, including regularly scheduled maintenance of fertilizer (dry and liquid) and seed handling equipment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Unload, load and transfer grain and grain products including truck operations.
  • Operate grain handling equipment including scales/moisture meter/dryers.
  • Understand the proper operation of conveyance equipment that is utilized in the shipping, receiving, and transferring of grain and grain products and the associated safety systems of that equipment.
  • Operate skid loader and forklift on a regular basis and in a safe manner.
  • Coordinates application plans with facility, customers and drivers to maximize efficiency.
  • Maintains and repairs equipment (primarily fertilizer buggy’s), completes annual inspections, and maintains records.
  • Works extended hours as requested by supervisor to ensure customer needs are met during busy seasons.
  • Pick up and deliver product to customers as needed.
  • Housekeeping as related, but not limited to, the cleanliness and orderliness of the grain handling area (tunnels, concrete grounds, grass areas, etc.), as well as any areas within the plant as delegated by the Location Manager. 
  • Work safely within company policy, procedures, and governmental regulations and fully participate in company safety programs.
  • Provide a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, and knowledgeable interaction and behaviors.
  • Represent yourself and United Cooperative professionally at all times.
  • All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Valid CDL (or the ability to immediately obtain).
  • Ability to operate forklift and payloader.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to work long hours during the busy grain and agronomy seasons.
  • Must be able to multi-task in a fast-moving environment.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
  • This job operates in an outdoor environment. There is exposure to grain dust, weather elements, and heavy truck and machinery activity.
  • The employee will regularly be required to stand, walk, reach, climb, and lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, handle heights, and work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb towers for regular maintenance.
