Accounting Assistant (Internship)

Are you looking for a fulfilling accounting internship with an organization that makes a difference in the community? Vera French Community Mental Health Center is looking for an Accounting Assistant (Intern) to assist with data entry, processing, and recording transactions, updating general ledger, assisting with audits, proof-reading and preparing reports. This internship would be supervised by our Controller and work directly with various staff throughout the organization. The Accounting Assistant is a part time internship, intended for college-level students.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Assist in migrating data, testing, and developing reports/dashboards in a new GL system.
- Access the accounting database and learn invoicing process, check creation and proper storage/retention of paid invoices.
- Aiding Auditors in preparation of the audit process.
- Perform general administrative duties such as: greeting visitors to Finance Office, assist in scheduling meetings, ordering office supplies.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Associates degree in Business or Accounting preferred, or high school diploma with equivalent accounting experience and working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
- Must have successfully completed Intro to Financial Accounting course or equivalent and at least one 300-level accounting course.
- Enrollment in a four-year Accounting program is preferred.
- High level of detail, good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
