Trade Strategy Intern - Shopper Insights & Analytics

The role
 
The primary responsibility of the Trade Strategy Intern will be to assist Shopper Insights Manager with projects, sales tracking, and ad hoc requests across our entire brand portfolio in support of our retail partners within the US. Trade Strategy is synonymous with sales in the consumer product goods industry, and as such this internship will report up through the Sales department at Kao while supporting a cross-functional group of business partners in Field Sales, Shopper Marketing, and Brand Marketing. This intern will have the opportunity to acquire on-the-job training in compiling and analyzing data from secondary sources such as Store sales data, Household Panel behavioral data, and other secondary industry sources
 
What you will do
 
Assist the Shopper Insights & Analytics manager with the following:
  • Measure and analyze the success of new product launches
  • Answer ad hoc business questions that support Field sales, Shopper Marketing, Trade Strategy, and Brand Marketing
  • Conduct analyses that provide better understanding of Shoppers to help uncover business-building opportunities for our brands
  • Conduct analyses to develop a better understanding of the various shopper journeys for our categories to help uncover opportunities to accelerate purchasing for our brands
There will be opportunities to support Shopper Marketing in such ways as:
  • Providing execution support of shopper programs
  • Partnering with vendors to ensure timely and efficient program deployment
  • Post-program summary and analysis
What you will need
 
  • Currently pursuing bachelor’s or Master's degree - relevant areas of study include: Marketing, General Business, Finance or other that lend themselves to analytical thinking
  • High degree of comfort with leveraging PowerPoint and Excel
  • Prior internship experience in a marketing, market research or sales environment in the CPG industry is preferred 
  • Willingness and interest in learning new data software with which analytic skills will be leveraged
  • Strategic thinker, detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated, demonstrated leader with strong interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter who is flexible and has a strong drive for results
  • Solid communication skills
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize effectively
  • Attention to detail and strong project management skills
  • Must be able to work 40 hours per week
