Transportation Manager
The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing third party and dedicated fleet provider relationships. The Transportation Manager will manage and negotiate contracts and rates for all dedicated fleet providers, and third-party providers. This position is responsible for the financial metrics of the fleet, both internal and external.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage third party and dedicated fleet providers
- Manage third party carrier relationships with existing Marvin dedicated fleet providers. Serve as the primary for dedicated fleet providers
- Manage and negotiate contracts and rates for all dedicated fleet providers
- Responsible for managing KPIs and Metrics for both third party dedicated fleet providers and internal fleet
- Manage the transportation spend across the network and ensure there is monitoring of Cost per Mile for each transportation type (dedicated fleet vs. internal) across all locations
- Partner with Schedulers and Dispatchers at all Marvin locations to plan, communicate, and execute weekly trips to third-party carriers
- Manage vendor capacity to assure delivered as promised is met
- Coordinate and plan delivery with external partners by balancing production, delivery metrics, and customer delivery expectations across all Marvin facilities
- Manage communication with delivery partners including pickup times, locations, load information, and delays
- Monitor resource utilization across delivery partners
- Work to control freight costs within Marvin
Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelors or Higher degree in related field
- 5+ years of relevant experience in vendor management and contract negotiation
- 5+ years of experience managing third party relationships
