JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Engineer consist of a team of engineers who act as primary technical interface with all Locknet prospects and clients. All technical solutions and services provided by Locknet are designed and proposed by the Sales Engineer team, ensuring highest efficiency, technical excellence and optimized use of the group.
The Sales Engineer supports the sales and engineering teams by composing e-quotes and proposals for new services and routine hardware/software replacement orders. The position may also extend to conducting technical analysis on potential or existing clients. Emphasis is on the integrated teamwork approach by providing technical pre and post-sales support activity on Locknet client accounts.
 The Sales Engineer will conduct research individually and collectively to ensure client requests meet current hardware and software specifications then provide insight into the technical options available to meet their business needs.
The Sales Engineer will report back to the Vice President-IT on trending potential client needs and emerging marketplace trends for product development consideration. This position also functions as part of the product development team by designing new products and services and training employees and new users of our products. 
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Supports the pre-qualification technical due diligence of new sales opportunities and the preparation of technical proposals and e-quotes in response to client requirements
  • Acts as a primary technical interface for smaller Locknet client hardware/software orders
  • Offers technical solutions out of the Locknet product portfolio during meetings with clients as opportunities arise
  • Works closely with engineers and sales teams on client projects and supports them, as needed
  • Provides the implementation team with all necessary documentation for the successful completion of the project (including solution configurations and diagrams)
  • Provides pre-sales support for new and existing customers
  • Works with sales to provide a response for technical RFI/RFP questions
  • Participates in all scheduled sales team meetings/conference calls and sales trainings
  • A member of the Product Development Team in which will build, deliver and manage proof of concept product evaluations and pilot projects
  • Travels, as needed, to industry events, prospect and partner sites
  • Additional responsibilities include providing on-site support, handling technical presentations at trade shows and conferences; and ensuring proactive communications with customers to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Maintains an in-depth level of technical and industry knowledge through ongoing training, seminars and certifications
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • College degree in computer science or related field
  • 3 plus years’ experience in IT or with professional services or systems engineering designing IP LANs and WANs, including highly available, redundant networks, firewalls, Microsoft Networking, Active Directory
 
PREFERRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent four-year college technical degree
  • Technical support experience at a Managed Service Provider
 
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proactive attitude, think outside the box and continuously find ways to improve the level of service the SE Team provides the clients and sales account executives
  • Self-sufficient, requires minimal supervision and works independently and as a team when needed
  • Ability to develop negotiation skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a structured or virtual team environment
  • Ability to work under pressure in multi-task environment and has a “can-do” mentality
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients at all levels of an organization
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively assist sales in creating winning technical proposals
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills
  • Detail-oriented, multi-tasking, and able to deal with tight deadlines and stress
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
 
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Maintains a good driving record
  • This position requires driving/travel frequently
