Business Development Summer Intern

TENTATIVE DATES:
May 18 - August 5, 2021

POSITION PURPOSE: 
The purpose of this position is to assist Business Development with a focus on research, strategic analysis, and financial modeling of new technologies for biofuels, bioproducts, and environmental services. This will include competitors/industry evaluation and the development of new strategic initiatives that drive market share, risk management, and support long term growth. 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 
Key Accountabilities:
Analysis Function
  • Assist in the development of strategic business opportunities and long-range business plans that support strategic initiatives of the business units
  • Evaluate new technologies and products for biofuels, bioproducts, and environmental services
  • Research and evaluation of target companies, technology providers, business plans, financial models, and intellectual property
  • Help identify and analyze new technologies and business opportunities (partnerships/mergers/acquisitions) 
  • Collect information on competitors to fully understand their technologies, markets, intellectual property, and strategies for evaluation of potential mergers/acquisitions
  • Assist in developing strategic initiatives and market strategies that drive customer relationships and promote sustainable market positioning
  • Perform industry analysis and assist in financial modeling for strategic projects
Special Projects 
  • Assist with the implementation of key business projects 
  • Coordinate Project details, monitor progression, and verify completion 
  • Develop project work plans, schedules, budgets, and financial models
  • Communicate with all groups involved 
  • Final follow-up involving a review of analysis
Perform other duties as assigned
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Required: Pursuing a masters or bachelor’s degree – Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related degree 
**Senior or Junior status required - undergraduate candidates must have additional specialized training
Experience Required: 3-5 years research and analytical business or technical experience preferred but not required 
**Business environment experience, relevant courses, club participation and internship preferred
Skills Required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word)
  • Advanced financial modeling and accounting skills
Special skills or knowledge preferred:
  • Strong understanding of engineering, chemistry and/or biosciences
  • Manufacturing or technology development experience
