Audiology Extern

Hammond Associates was founded to be, a client-centered practice in Portland, Maine. Our organization is clinically comprised of speech-language pathologists (SLPs), Board Certified Behavioral Analysts (BCBAs), Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs), and one audiologist. We are dedicated to providing the people of Maine with high-quality care. We are seeking a 4th year extern to join our team for the 2023-2024 year.

Services currently offered at this location include pediatric and adult audiologic evaluations (audiometry, immittance and OAE testing), central auditory processing evaluations for all ages, traditional hearing aid services (consultations, fittings, follow ups, troubleshooting, ear impressions, repairs, etc.), real-ear measures, custom hearing protection, bone conduction hearing aids and community outreach for hearing health care and hearing protection. We also work with most commercial insurance companies, Medicare and Medicaid. We do not provide, newborn hearing screenings, auditory brainstem response testing or other evoked potentials (excluding OAEs), and vestibular assessments and rehabilitation. This is a multi-disciplinary clinic that offers great experiences to fourth year audiology students in their clinical training. Our supervising audiologist is Brittany Vlosich Au.D., FAAA, CCC-A.

Requirements to Apply:
·        Must be enrolled in an accredited Doctor of Audiology program and be on track to complete the third year by the start date of the position.

Skills/Experiences expected prior to starting clinical externship:
·        Test assisting for pediatric evaluations
·        Complete adult audiologic evaluations essentially independently
·        Experience with immittance testing, OAEs, VRA and CPA
·        Experience with hearing aid consultations and troubleshooting for different manufacturers and styles of hearing aids
