Position
LWI is seeking a Director of Communications who has communications experience, covering areas such as website content, newsletters, and donor communications. Reporting to the Executive Vice President (EVP), the Director of Communications will plan, guide and implement the strategy for communications, website, and collateral material to consistently articulate Lubavitch of Wisconsin’s mission. The DOC is also tasked with coordinating the efforts to promote Lubavitch of WI’s multiple constituencies from the umbrella org’s perspective. The Director of Communications will work closely with Agency Heads within the organization as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives. The ability to take knowledge and transform it into exciting and useful messages and disseminate it to the right audiences through the best distribution channels is critical.

Responsibilities

Strategize/Develop
  • Develop and manage creative, strategic, and tactical annual marketing plans through print/US mail, online/e-mail, social media (such as blogging, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Podcasting and YouTube), telemarketing, word-of-mouth driven programs.
  • Create strategy that expands the target audience including via print, online/e-mail, social media (blogging, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Podcasting, YouTube, etc.), telemarketing, and word-of-mouth.
  • Develop and manage relationships with the local Jewish media, general media, partner organizations, reaching as many outlets as possible on a regular basis.
Manage/Create
  • Public Relations. With input from executive team and assistance of professionals, be involved in branding, create marketing materials, social media and advertising campaigns as part of a public relations strategy.
Implement
  • Implement annual communication plan through print, online/e-mail, social media (blogs, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Podcasting, YouTube), telemarketing, and drive word-of-mouth promotion.
  • Oversee/Coordinate/implement webpage maintenance—ensure that new and consistent information (article links, stories, and events) is posted regularly.
  • Ensure consistent and quality delivery of LWI's brand and messages.
  • Coordinate/Create public relations for and around LWI events including photography, newsletters, press releases and collaboration with media contacts.
  • Create various one-time communications like an annual report, certain general PowerPoint presentations, and executive correspondences and speeches.
  • Promote programs that enhance the public perception of the LWI, interest parents to send their children to our schools and encourage donors to contribute to the organization.

Skills & Abilities:
  • Dependability and timeliness.
  • Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong English language verbal and written communication skills; ability to proofread own work.
  • High level of computer competency; MS Word, Excel, and desktop publishing essential.
  • Ability to learn new software programs.
  • Familiarity with office procedures.

Qualifications

  • Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
  • A strong track record as an implementer who thrives on managing a variety of key initiatives concurrently.
  • Relationship builder with the flexibility and finesse to "manage by influence".
  • High energy, maturity, and leadership with the ability to serve as a unifying force and to position communications discussions at both the strategic and tactical levels.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and entrepreneurial; enjoys creating and implementing new initiatives.
  • Strong computer proficiency including experience with publishing software, and website development.
