AOT Policy Analyst I

The Policy, Planning and Research Bureau of the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) has an exciting opportunity in Barre, VT for an experienced policy analyst accustomed to working in a fast-paced, innovative environment. We are seeking to hire one person at either the AOT Policy Analyst I or AOT Policy Analyst II level.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues at VTrans to evaluate policy options and prepare policy analyses and planning documents that address pressing transportation policy issues facing Vermont and to inform Agency activities and legislation. This is a multidisciplinary position with major responsibilities including, among others, state legislative tracking, cross border policy and planning, preparation of federal grant applications, program implementation support, and support for environmental initiatives and the State Infrastructure Bank. We are looking for an effective communicator with demonstrated skills in transportation policy analysis who can shift rapidly between assignments and enjoys working across various transportation policy areas. Occasional travel to night meetings, conferences and training is required. Some limited telework may be allowed depending on the Agency's needs.

Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree in public administration, business administration, engineering, economics, statistics, transportation planning, or related field AND two (2) years progressively responsible experience in transportation planning or policy analysis; public administration, local, regional, state, or land use planning; or analysis of community planning.
OR
Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, engineering, economics, statistics, transportation planning, or related field AND four (4) years progressively responsible experience in transportation planning or policy analysis; public administration, local, regional, state, or land use planning; or analysis of community planning.
OR
High school diploma or equivalent AND six (6) years progressively responsible experience in transportation planning or policy analysis; public administration, local, regional, state, or land use planning; or analysis of community planning.
