Illinois Reporter

The Moline Dispatch-Argus is seeking a dynamic reporter to cover the Illinois Quad-Cities, a riverfront region of about 450,000 along the Iowa border.

Top candidates will have experience covering a beat, and with writing stories that capture a sense of place. . The beat will include municipal coverage, but also stories about what makes the community tick.

We need a reporter who can connect with people and hone in on what matters to the community, whether the ideas come from a hunch, a government meeting, or social media. You will be able to craft daily stories and features with narrative flair and produce enterprise stories that separate us from our TV competition.

We’d prefer candidates with previous newsroom experience, but recent college graduates with strong clips will be considered. We welcome diversity in our newsroom.

This reporter will join an experienced news team that works in conjunction with our sister paper, the Iowa-focused Quad-City Times.

The Quad-Cities is a fun place to live and work, with all the amenities of a big city – pro sports, big-name concerts, food and culture – without the traffic and high cost of living.

Applications must include a resume, cover letter and at least five writing examples.
