Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor

First Resources of Ottumwa is growing and we are searching for dedicated Full-time Residential Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).

Interested person must be a licensed Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the State of Iowa.
*Monday - Friday 8am - 4:30pm*

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides assessments, individual counseling sessions and group substance abuse treatment to all clients in a residential setting.
  • Case consultation with Supervisor to ensure quality service implementation.
  • Maintain case load of designated billable units.
  • Attend weekly staffing's.
  • Serve on partnering committees as requested.
  • Fostering and maintaining positive relationships with the community stakeholders.
  • Ethical and professional interaction.
  • Develop and continue to assess individualized treatment plan as a working document and develop an individualized treatment plan for each client.
  • Note documentation will be entered into EHR daily.
  • Prepare ASAMS appropriate for each level of care and within the time limit established.
  • Ability to be flexible as the job may require late working hours outside of the normal business hours

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 150 hours of training in the Alcohol and Drug Counselor Knowledge and Skill Competencies required. These 150 hours may be a combination of college course, trainings and workshops. (See Certification Criteria)
  • Temporary Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor (tCADC) requirements must be followed for anyone who doesn't satisfy the Experienced Track. (See Certification Criteria)
  • Prior knowledge of substance abuse
  • Must have five (5) years of continuance sobriety if in recovery.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of data base programs and Microsoft Suite.
  • Satisfactory results on background checks pertaining to criminal and abuse registries.
  • Able to lift a minimum of 40 pounds without restrictions.
  • Successfully complete the new hire orientation checklist.
  • Satisfactory attend all required trainings by agency.
  • Must be able to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the initial 30 days of employment, and actively maintain certification throughout employment.
