Specimen Processing Laboratory Associate/Technician
Job Summary: The Specimen Processing Laboratory Associate/Technician will be responsible for processing samples and providing high quality DNA to the downstream laboratories for analysis. The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter and motivated individual with a positive, team oriented attitude. The shift for this position will be full time, Monday - Friday with one Saturday every 4 weeks; 10:30 am - 7:00 pm or Monday-Friday with one Saturday every 4 weeks; work hours of 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm.
Position Requirements:
- Associate degree in medical laboratory technology, chemistry, biology, or a related field; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience in processing samples in a laboratory setting is preferred
- At least one basic course in genetics is preferred
- Computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office software
Responsibilities:
- Accession samples into clinical database
- Extract and purify DNA from various specimen types (both automated and manual)
- Quantify and properly dilute extracted DNA
- Prepare, aliquot, and properly store reagents and buffers required for laboratory tasks
- Analyze DNA quality via Fragment Analyzer capillary electrophoresis
