Director of Nursing

ChildServe is looking for a Director of Nursing to provide organizational oversight of nursing services and staff to maintain recognition as a premiere provider organization, advance recruitment, education, and development of nursing staff, and achieve high quality healthcare for the children, young adults, and families served.

What You'll Do
  • Provide organizational leadership to nurse managers and nursing staff; Chair Nursing Leadership Council and lead nursing expertise across the organization.
  • Provide organizational leadership for infection prevention and control practices for staff, children, young adults, and families served; Chair Infection Prevention & Control Council; support Clinical Learning & Development Specialist/ Occupational Health Nurse.
  • Promote organizational compliance and accreditation (e.g. Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) to support organizational performance excellence.
  • Co-lead the organizational clinical learning system and clinical curriculum, in collaboration with the Director of Pediatric Rehabilitation and Autism & Behavioral Health Department Heads.
  • Serve as clinical expert for legal matters, in collaboration with General Counsel.
  • Foster teamwork and strong communication and coordination across organizational service areas and with external partners.
  • Serve as a key liaison with other clinical leaders throughout the organization and external health care organizations and leaders (e.g. Pediatric Complex Care Association), as opportunities arise.
  • Provide key support for Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement Council, in collaboration with the Vice President of Care Quality and other organizational leaders, programs, and services.
  • Establish and oversee clinical standards of care, policies, procedures, and practices that promote the highest quality of care, in collaboration with other leaders of quality and safety, to support the care quality system, which includes participation on Safety Council, as requested.
  • Provide direction and support for nurse recruiting, onboarding, and retention, in collaboration with Human Resources and the Learning & Development department.
  • Serve as a liaison with schools and nursing programs to support education, supervision, and recruitment; attends career fairs and presents education; participates in targeted marketing and referral development.
  • Supervise ARNPs and promote growth and development of the advanced practice nursing team.

What You'll Need 
  • Master of Science in Nursing; Doctorate of Nursing Practice preferred.
  • RN & ARNP licensure in the state of Iowa with certification in one of the following roles:
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)
  • Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP)
  • Minimum of ten years of nursing experience, including five years in the field of pediatrics (children with medical complexity preferred) and three years in nursing leadership and education roles.
  • Documentation of current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing and speaking the English language.
