Police Officer

As a Police Officer, you’ll deliver a full range of police services to effectively protect lives and property of Burnsville's residents, business owners and visitors.
 
Founded on a vision of progressive law enforcement principles, our Police Department is a team of 75 sworn officers and 19 civilians who use community-oriented policing to provide public safety.

This role works rotating shifts and has a starting wage of $39.53 per hour.  

Police Officers value people and perspectives by:
  • Providing rescue help and emergency first aid treatment.
  • Answering questions, providing directions and prompt assistance to the community.

  • Deter and detect unlawful activities by effective police work. 
  • Gather evidence, question victims, suspects and witnesses, and follow up on related leads.

  • Responding to calls for assistance, investigating complaints, and maintaining order in disputes.
  • Directing traffic, reporting hazardous conditions, and enforcing ordinances. 

What you'll bring to help you be successful
  • A valid Minnesota Peace Officer License or be eligibility to be licensed in the State of Minnesota. 
  • A valid Minnesota Driver's License or be eligibility to be licensed in the State of Minnesota.
  • A background or interest in local government work serving the community.
  • An interest in developing what you do best and a commitment to valuing each colleague for their unique perspectives.
