Science Communications Intern

The ScienceBoard science communications intern creates relevant and timely content in the biomedical and life sciences industries. Under the guidance of the editor in chief, the intern will learn how to tell compelling stories and gain experience with a variety of communications approaches to build their portfolio. The intern will have the opportunity to help plan and execute written and video collateral assets.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop content highlighting research across various ScienceBoard’s scientific focus areas. This includes, but is not limited to:
·     Written research features, blogs, press releases, and interviews as directed
·     Assist with new media content creation for smart, lay audiences
·     Execute and build a social-first content distribution network

The internship is a paid, part-time position (10-15 hours per week) for a minimum of 6 months and up to one year. Interns work remotely, must be based in the U.S., and must be willing to work East Coast business hours.

Required Qualifications:

·     A bachelor’s degree or higher
·     Passion for communicating science to the public
·     Strong writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
·     Self-motivated with an ability to work in a highly collaborative work environment but with a substantial degree of autonomy on individual projects

Preferred Qualifications:

·     Graduate students, PhD candidates, or post-doctoral researchers with science, health, communications, public policy, or related degree
·     Interest in new media and creative content
