Science Teacher - Secondary (Jr. High and High School)
Duties & Responsibilities: (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
- Ability to teach Davenport Science curriculum and Next Generation Science Standards
- Possess competence in computer and technology skills and familiarity with SBAR
- Communicate with parents as appropriate and on a consistent basis.
- Positive feeling about ALL students.
- Flexibility in meeting the needs of student and the school.
- Recognition of the need for confidentiality with respect to student and parental rights and privacy as well as confidentiality of all conversation and hard copy information.
- Ability to meet and interact positively with the public.
- Willingness to work with technology as it relates to student and building needs.
- Ability and willingness to work in a collaborative manner with other teachers to meet the needs of students with special learning needs.
- A full understanding of CTT (Collaborative Teacher Teams) as well as PLC (Professional Learning Communities).
- Willingness to serve on one or more building committees.
- Supervision and other duties as assigned
- Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her full potential.
- Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that all duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
- Must be willing to support and implement Davenport’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
- Endorsements Required: Any 5-12 science endorsement [185 OR 151 OR 153 OR 156 OR 152 OR 1541]
Physical Requirements of Position: (HBV Yes No)
- Must be able to stand for a period of time.
- Must be able to walk for extended period of time and walk up stairs
- Must be able to lift/pull/push 50 lbs.
Special Qualification Desired: (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university with a major in science.
- Maintains appropriate communication with administration, staff and parents.
