The School District of West Salem is right next door to La Crosse in the beautiful Coulee Region of Western Wisconsin. Our 3 buildings are within walking distance of each other on an approximate 100-acre campus on the edge of town. Students in grades 4-12 are issued MacBooks or iPads as part of its 1:1 digital learning environment. The ability to integrate technology in the development of daily lessons that engage students is desired. Having a passion for teaching and for providing an exciting, meaningful, and rewarding experience for students is a must! Our elementary school is grades 4k-4, our middle school is grades 5-8 and our high school is grades 9-12.

The district is looking for a Cross Categorical (#1801) and/or EBD (#1830) Teachers for our middle school to "Serve with passion to ignite creativity, innovation, and excellence." Applicants must be able to qualify for a Wisconsin DPI license to teach Emotional Behavioral Disability (#1830) or Cross Categorical (#1801).

Applicants should be energetic, creative and innovative and willing to provide their students with a 21st Century experience in the classroom and beyond.

Position responsibilities:
• Instruction of students grades 5-8 with emotional behavioral disabilities
• Management of all aspects of student program including: functional behavior assessment, behavior plans, academic and behavioral assessments, writing and implementing IEP's, and effectively consulting with staff and parents.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of the IEP team

Prefer applicants possessing the following qualifications:
• Experience working with students who have emotional behavioral disabilities and/or autism.
• Experience and demonstrated skills in assessing, instructing, and programming for students with disabilities at the middle school level.
• Experience working with a team of regular and special educators to meet student needs.
• Experience with functional behavioral assessment and development of behavior intervention plans.
• Certification in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, CPR and First Aid.
