Opioid and Substance Abuse Recovery VISTA

The Opioid and Substance Abuse Recovery VISTA will build the capacity of GRACE (Grundy Recovery Alliance & Community Endeavor) to provide effective programming, developing sustainable behavioral health and addiction programming in the rural Appalachian community of Grundy County, Tennessee. 

This person’s work encompasses outreach, education and training, referrals, medical services, counseling and coaching, and opioid / drug interventions for adults in recovery. The VISTA will position GRACE as a model for Building Communities of Recovery by prioritizing program development based on research of community needs, service gaps, and knowledge of best practices and industry standards. 

Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) is a federal anti-poverty program designed to provide needed resources to nonprofit organizations and public agencies to increase their capacity to lift communities out of poverty.
 
Members of the South Cumberland Plateau VISTA program will receive a living stipend of $1150 / month, and may be eligible for a relocation allowance, assistance with affordable housing, training and development opportunities, choice of education award or end-of-service stipend, access to amenities at our host site, Sewanee: The University of the South, and healthcare coverage through AmeriCorps VISTA.
 
Education requirements: Bachelor’s degree or higher strongly preferred, though an applicant may apply early if on track to graduate within the next three months. Applications accepted until position is filled. Interest in community service and volunteerism strongly encouraged. VISTA service appointments are generally one (1) year in duration.
