Under the direction of the DSHS PHR 1 Epidemiology Team Lead (Epidemiologist III), the COVID-19 Epidemiologist:
• Conducts prioritized COVID-19 disease case investigations on reported confirmed and probable COVID-19 cases.
• Identifies and investigates COVID-19 disease outbreaks in vulnerable populations, schools, and businesses.
• Oversees investigation of assigned COVID-19 disease outbreaks, serves as lead of an outbreak investigation team consisting of case investigator(s) and data entry specialist(s), and/or administrative assistant(s).
• Analyzes and summarizes COVID-19 disease outbreak data and presents technical reports and briefings to DSHS PHR 1 Administration and Incident Command.
• Serves as a National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) subject matter expert, providing training and assistance to assigned outbreak response team members.
• Reviews COVID-19 epidemiological datasets, performs quality assurance processes.
• Participates in regional planning, development, and implementation of COVID-19 epidemiological response efforts.
